常溫超導體 (superconductor) 即將改變人類未來?

7/22於arXiv網站上發布了一篇關於常溫超導體的論文,引起了全世界的熱烈討論,為何該議題受到全世界科研人員的關注呢?和一般的超導體又有什麼不一樣呢?如果真的研究出這樣的材料,那未來又會有哪些應用性呢?

超導材料的發展演進,事實上可追溯及 1911 年,Heike Kamer-Onnes 在溫度4.2K(-268.97℃)時用液氦冷卻汞時發現汞的電阻為零,發現了超導電性規律。在近 100 年的超導材料發展歷史中,有 10 位科學家憑藉傑出的研究獲得了諾貝爾物理學獎。然而,過去研究的超導體材料當中,遭逢了許多應用層面(溫度、原料)的障礙。然而「常溫超導體」LK-99 論文的發表,預示著先前的障礙有機會被克服,若這項結果得以被重現、證實,將是人類歷史畫下全新紀元的序章!

超導體(superconductor)有何特性?

簡而言之,超導體是一種當溫度低於「臨界溫度」時,沒有電阻的導電材料(電流在材料裡面永久的流動,能量永遠不會耗損,因此不需提供外加能量),且具有完全抗磁(磁場/磁力線無法穿透至該材料內部)的特性。
